HostNine is a dynamic young company founded by web hosting veterans. In 2006, we decided to strike out on our own after many years of industry experience. Our goal is simple: we want to get to know your business, and do everything we can to support it.
As a starting point, we've built a solid technology foundation. We use only Dell servers, which offer exceptional performance and proven reliability. Our current config features dual core dual Opteron 2.4 GHz processors (that means each server contains two 2.4 GHz processors, each of which is dual core) with 4 GB of RAM. Our Fastservers-operated data centers are located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, San Jose and Chicago.
Been with hostnine for 8 months. Since signing up there has been a steady decline in the server performance (comet server - oversold). Ben, the operations manager, has proclaimed on their own forum that he was trying to run the company from a hospital room with a pda and has had to let several people go....say what!!! I monitored the sites (40) with several monitors and was averaging between 92% - 96% uptime which in industry standards is pathetic. This is a sinking ship and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you stay clear of HostNine....

In terms of hostnine against other hosts, I'm very happy. Have had a reseller and shared account, and have signed up clients using their affiliate program as well.
Support is sometimes a bit slow during busy times, but usually very fast. I've actually submitted a support request, went for coffee and had a response when I got back....
As long you state your problems without whining you'll get great service!!!

Have had a reseller account with H9 for almost a year. They're prices are very competitive and I find their new Reseller Central (with multi-server/migration capabilities) an enormous benefit.
My support requests have always been answered quickly (within 15-20 minutes) and I'm impressed by the fact that their support staff and operations manager actively post and respond to customers in their forum.
I personally have not had problems with excessive downtime (there is always *some* downtime with every host).....but there are some customers complaining of having problems in the forums with particular servers. Unfortunately, it just takes one bad server to give you a bad experience with a hosting provider. Luckily, I've not had this issue. Considering I utilize most of the nodes they have available within Reseller central....the lack of excessive downtime for me suggests that the problem servers other people have had are the exception and not the rule.
Need for improvement: Although they answer support requests quickly, they don't often explain exactly what the problem was so I can relay the message to my client - though they always get the problem fixed for me regardless.
When a server is having issues (whether it be a reboot or one of the services going down), they need to be more proactive about posting this in this information in their network forum so everyone can stay informed. I've noticed them doing it more lately after it being requested by several customers in the forums.
